Our family didn’t have cable for approximately 3-4 years. We recently decided to try it out again and I feel like I’ve missed so much of our culture. I don’t know if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I guess it depends on the point of view.
That being said, I think I’m addicted to the show Hoarders.
I’m not really sure what that says about me but I can’t seem to look away. I recently discovered that there is also a show called Animal Hoarders and it’s wonderful too. Of course, each time I watch Hoarders I feel like I need to totally clean my house before going to bed. I guess that could be considered a good side effect of watching it. Maybe?
Oh, and last night I watched a show called “I Shouldn’t Be Alive.” It was the most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever watched, but it was so good.
I feel like I’ve missed so many shows that are just like train wrecks.
A couple of other cool shows I’ve been watching:
Dog The Bounty Hunter – I’ve seen this before and forgot how much I liked it. There really isn’t much of a redeeming quality to it. I do like how kind they seem to the people after they have nailed them. The also usually won’t put handcuffs on a fugitive (especially if it’s a woman) in front of their kids.
Cupcake Wars – this is a new show to me. This is a really fun show. I didn’t know there were so many varieties of cupcakes in this world. The only negative about this show is it makes me crave cupcakes and I can feel the weight attaching to my thighs just from watching it.
Swamp People – this is a show about alligator hunters in the Louisiana bayou. This is definitely of the train-wreck variety but I can’t look away.
Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels – I’m facinated with this family and Gene’s work ethic and skills as a parent. OK…I understand that his morals aren’t that good (can you say happily unmarried?), but I still love to watch this show.
Scrubs Reruns – these just make me smile! Who doesn’t love JD, Chocolate Bear, Carla, Dr. Cox, the Janitor, and Elliott?

So Swamp Scares me…I have not seen the show just the preview and now i turn it when it comes on because for some reason they remind me of the Deliverance…Just sayin… I love Grey’s Anatomy! Also my new favorite show to watch is Thintervention with Jackie Warner on Bravo. It just started coming on so you could catch up on the first couple of episodes. Basically she is a Personal Trainer and she has taken on like 8 people that desperately want to lose weight and she works them to death to drop the weight. I always want to work out after it…
Once Denny died on Grey’s Anatomy, I couldn’t watch it anymore. I have seen commercials for Thintervention. I would probably like it because I neglected to mention that I also LOVE Intervention. It was probably my favorite show before when we had cable but I think Hoarders has passed it by. I didn’t even mention my other favorites: Dirty Jobs and Deadliest Catch. I have been seeing commercials for Verminator which I’m going to try to catch because I loved that guy when he was on Dirty Jobs.
hmm of COURSE dirty jobs with mike rowe, project runway, americas next top model, supernatural, pretty much anything on discovery.
TV – I’ll start by saying that I have to see the news. Hard News not fluff or slanted news but hard news, you know the kind with the facts. All the alphabet networks are simply inept when it comes to news. Fox News Is my choice. I even have the Fox News Alert on my Blackberry.
Shows – I used to watch CSI Las Vegas on a regular basis, until Gil Grisom went off the show and was replaced by Laurence Fishburn. I like Fishburn OK but the show seemed to lose it’s luster when the main character left.
Currently, I like: Criminal Minds (a show about the FBI Behavior Analysis Unit) NCIS(a show about the Naval Criminal Investigative Service)

I recently stumbled upon Boston Legal and absolutely love it, when the Movie Gallery up the street went out of business I got the first 2 seasons on DVD! Denny Crane!
The Gilmour Girls is a pretty good show, a lot of great one liners
We watch HGTV a lot. Holmes On Homes is one of my favs, and we watch House Hunters, and Income Property.
The History Channel used to have a show called Extreme Trains, I watched it every time it came on. The host was a little goofy, but I overlooked it because I am an absolute train nut!!
I like most anything that comes on the Military Channel, especially the stuff about the Marines, Ooh Rah!! (I’m a former Marine)
Any SEC football. All Auburn games (Cynthia and Noah are fans) and All Alabama games, Roll Tide. 😉
Hate pro football, will occasionally watch a MLB game.
Oh, and I almost forgot I Love Modern Marvels.
Don’t care for Survivor, Amazing Race, Big Brother, and most other “reality” shows however I have watched Hoarders and Gene Simmons Family Jewels, and those are pretty good.
So there’s a peek into my twisted TV viewing habits.
Oh…I forgot all about House. It has been one of my favorites. I’ll have to start catching up. I also love Boston Legal, in fact our whole family does (Denny Crane!). We Netflixed it and watched the whole series. It is probably top ten in my all-time favorites.
The Big Bang Theory is perhaps the funniest show ever to air.
